The Pāhala Community Center was bustling on July 18 as residents gathered for the 4th annual Ka‘ū Hospital and EHHC-Ka‘ū Community Health & Emergency Preparedness Fair. Sponsored by the Ka‘ū Hospital Charitable Foundation, the event drew a fantastic crowd eager to connect with local resources, enjoy great food and take advantage of free health education and emergency preparedness tips. Attendees browsed booths from dozens of organizations, including Hawai‘i County Civil Defense, the Alzheimer’s Association and our very own Ka‘ū News team, gathering plenty of good information to keep their ‘ohana safe and healthy. The lively atmosphere was fueled by vibrant hula and taiko drum performances, while a giant inflatable water slide from Jarneski Party Rentals kept the keiki cool and entertained throughout the afternoon.
