On July 2, the Pāhala Community Center hosted the Kaʻū Regional Agrifood Summit, bringing together community members, agricultural producers and local resource providers to help shape the future of the region’s food systems.

The free gathering centered on reviewing and gathering community feedback for the draft County of Hawaiʻi Five-Year Agrifood System and Community Food Security Plan.

Participants engaged in collaborative panel discussions connecting local voices with agricultural resources, shared valuable manaʻo, and enjoyed a complimentary locally sourced dinner. While countywide results and final plan presentations were originally scheduled to be unveiled at the Island-Wide Agrifood Summit in August, that event was postponed due to Hurricane Lala, with rescheduling details currently pending.
