Kaʻū Bon Dance
The Kaʻū Bon Dance is one of the most unique and meaningful Obon festivals in the Hawaiian Islands, historically serving as the final celebration that closes out the Big Island’s summer Bon Dance season. Co-hosted by the Pāhala Hongwanji and Nāʻālehu Hongwanji missions alongside the community volunteer group ʻO Kaʻū Kākou, this event represents the deep cultural, plantation-era roots of the remote Kaʻū district
